Celebrating tonight and thought I was being VERY naughty by having aromatic duck with Hoi Sin Sauce, pancakes, cucumber and spring onion. Bought a DIY pack from ASDA (I do like their duck) and have had half and so should have eaten about 50 carb - 550 cals in total washed down with two glasses of Rose. Expected a double figure Bg after one hour but NO ......... it is/was 3.4!!! Feeling a little drunk, would do as I do not drink very much and feel the effects of acohol very easily these days, but still............. 3.4!!!! WOW or Yieeekkkeessss!!

Should I go for the chocolate bar or wait another hour and see??

Thanks
Alice

Hi Alice.

I think I would give it another hour and check again. It's the sauce and the pancakes I would be worried about. Duck is very fatty and hardly any carbs at all. It would slow down the absorption of the carbs as well.

If you are going to do an 'Alice' you might as well go the whole hog and have the chocolate ? :D

HAHAHAHA Actually I tested again after 30 min and still VERY low and still feeling both drunk and odd. Did take 2 sqaure of chocolate at that point and a diet coke. A few min later my head stopped spinning and I felt much better and after 40 min Bg up to 5.7. Now had my pud and a Bailey!! Will test again around the 1 hour mark and then before bed as per usual.

Not doing an "Alice" - just celebrating my birthday! hehehee

Having a Happy Day!

Alice, who is NOT doing an 'Alice ? '

Hope you are having a great time on your birthday. Better late than never !!

21 ....again ??? :D

Thanks!! And no ......... 35, I am a "big" girl!! hehehehe

And my Bg one hour after puds and Bailey is 5.6 - and I am not feeling odd any more. Really strange how my Bg dropped so dramatically after the duck, pancakes etc!! I expected the complete opposite!! Still we learn all the time!

Happy Bithday Alice,
Sounds like your having a great day and the low BG was a good excuse to indulge :D

Cheers
Graham

Ooooh I'm late!
Happy Birthday Alice!

I have my 40th in a week or so, although I've decided NOT to be 40.
I shall be 21....with 19 years experience!

Thank you for all your good wishes and responses. It was my first real hypo, so kinda strange expereince, but useful too - I now know how "I" feel like and just how effective a bit of chocolate and a diet coke can be!!

Last test yesterday was around 12.45am and on 5.2 - my AM Bg was 5.9, a little higher than usual, but I did not have a restful night and I forgot to have my nightly cheese-snack, so likely I had a liver-dump at some stage.

But all in all, pretty happy with everything, but what a chock to see 3.4 on the meter!! Not going to forget that in a hurry!!

Alice

Ps. Viv - I LOVE your attitude! I usually say I am 35 + tax!!
