Hi all, after my supper last night I was surprised at the BG reading of 4.7 but pleased as well, this morning after breakfast of all bran and raspberries with semi skimmed milk I had a reading of 11.3, then tonight after a chicken salad I had a reading of 4.1, is this to low after such a high reading earlier in the day. I seem to be up and down like a yoyo.

It's not too low, but you don't want to get in a position where you are swinging from 11mmol/l down to 4mmol/l.

If I was you I'd worry about the highs rather than the lows.

Keep at it.

Hi Alison, I'd say change your breakfast for something less carby and then you won't spike so much in the morning. 4.1 is fine for someone on metformin, but you may find you are higher in the morning because you are low tonight, your liver may dump a whole load of glucose in your system in the morning (Dawn Phenomenon).

I am worried about the highs, I have had a few high results, the highest being 12.4, I'm being very careful of what I am eating throughout the day, eating mostly salads but did have lasagne last night thats why I was surprised at the reading of 4.7. I had palpitations this morning and the high reading was after that, could that be why? also my doctor reduced my metformin to one a day because he said I was showing signs of being sensitive to it, could that be the reason?
