Hi Everyone

I am sure this has been asked 1000000s of times, but could anyone give me a rough idea as to the BG levels I should be aiming for. Specifically on waking, after food and then at bedtime.

My doctor is great. Nothing is too much trouble. he has been practically forcing me to have a testing machine for months - at last I've taken it, and can operate it but what should I be looking for?

As a Type Two I would only test to see the effect of foods. I am on diet only and am not too heave (73 kg).

Yesterday my waking was 5.9; food was 7.9 bedtime was 6.8.

Hi.
Actually it's number 1000001 :( However, once again here are the main numbers. :D

The current NICE 2009 guideline figures that a Type 2 should aim for are:
Fasting (waking)................between 4 - 7 mmol/l.
2 Hrs after food................no more than 8.5 mmol/l.

If you are able to keep the post prandial (post meal) readings lower then so much the better.
Those are the important numbers. As you are not on any hypo inducing medication the bedtime level is not really relevant.
