Hi, I tested before lunch (after being out for a walk) and was 9.2. I ate: 1 cheese triangle,2 scrambled eggs,50g mascarpone, 20g sundried tomatoes,2 baby plum tomatoes. I tested 2 hrs after lunch and it went Down!!! I tested and it said 8.5 Is this possible, is this a mistake ( washed and dried hands) my carbs for this meal were 11.3g

Sorry - to clarify: I am fairly newly diagnosed and this is a great low for me. I am on sitagliptin 100mg and had my normal breakfast (full fat Greek yoghurt) earlier on.my tests have been getting lower over the last few days as I’m learning but usually go up after a meal. It was quite a nicely low carb meal.

Yes of course it's possible flexi06
You had a low carb meal and your glucose levels returned to pre meal levels within 2 hours. Well done !!

Yes, it can happen. It may be your walk helped and the 9.2 before you ate was on its way down. You will never know that.
It may also have been a rogue reading, either the 9.2 or the 8.5. There is very little significant difference between them. Meters are only required to be accurate to within +- 15%, also strips can get corrupted, and there is always human error.

I suggest it was the walk, combined with a low carb meal.

Oh thank you sweeties. I am regaining control-after feeling so very out of it after diagnosis- and it is,in no small way, thanks to you kind folks in here. I’m so happy I am doing something right and having an effect.

I am the same now. I know what lowers my BG levels..Cheese, cream, some fat. bacon, eggs and cauliflower broccoli all the foods above ground. I can get away with a couple of small portions of carrots twice a week. I also can eat 4 Finn crackers a couple of times a week and does not raise my BG levels, but I do put a lot of butter on and some cheese.

That happens to me sometimes - invariably if I've just come in from one of my long walks, eaten, then tested 1-2 hours later. I see it as a very good thing.

What I find is that a walk before a meal will raise my levels (as all walks do) so my pre-meal level is higher than it would be without the walk, but the rise from before to after is much lower, or no rise at all. It is a trade off - high before and lower after, or low before and higher after.

It isn't just walks, it is all forms of exercise with me. This morning I was a busy bee doing a lot of housework right up to lunch time. My pre-lunch level was almost 1mmol/l higher than normal. I haven't bothered doing a post meal test because I continued the housework where I left off. Hopefully I may see a nice low level before tea. If not, at least my house will be clean. :)
