BG rises when you've got a cold

Just out of interest I would like to know if bg levels rise in non diabetic people when they have a cold. I have had my first cold since having my diagnosis of impaired fasting bg and was amazed how my bg levels rose despite what I eat, when normally i can keep them to non diabetic levels most of the time and I was eating less because I didn't feel well.

I don't think so. Apparently non-diabetics do become more insulin resistant when under stress/illness, maybe needing 50% extra insulin, but their body automatically makes the extra insulin to control bg. Hence diabetes is often diagnosed during or just after an illness, because the impending-diabetic may be making enough insulin (or be sensitive enough to it) under normal conditions but can't cope with the extra demands when they're ill.
