BG testing and insulin

I have to take insulin 30 to 45 minutes before dinner and also test my BG before eating.
Should I test my BG before injecting or just before eating or does it matter

If I'm understanding your question correctly, you'd want to test first then take your meal-time insulin. If you did it after, it would kind of defeat the purpose of doing it in the first place.
