BG up, how much insulin to take down?

Before I was diagnosed with Coeliac a lot less than I am now. But 15g oif carb would be 1 1/.2 units, I have a NovoRapid 1/2 unit dose pen.

You have put weight on? No gluten for you then. I just made a simple bacon sandwich for my evening meal as an experiment in carbs for this thread. so as it goes im going to eat; 2 x rounds of 50/50 Hovis = 30g + 2 rashers of bacon = 3g Pan fried in Olive oil = 0g Total carbs = 33g

I figured injecting 4 units of novorapid and this should deal with it. But i hit 6u instead (doh) so i need another 15g of something or i'll hypo in theory.

Will see how my BG goes as it was at 6.6 at 6pm

2 units of novorapid + 15g carb = 0 bg rise. so i should stay around the 5.5 / 6.5 bg level. I hope. will see in half an hour i expect.

I wonder if there are any maths teachers on the forum who could do it as an equation? may be easier to remember.

Edit: BG @ 5 mmol/l so am happy with progress

You may go hypo if this reading was less than 2hr after a meal. Please fo a 2 hr check.
 
So... going back to my OP if i want to correct my blood glucose level to a normal 5 mmol/l from a higher reading;

Given that 1 unit of Novorapid drops my bg level 2 mmol/l (everyone is different) it should read

BG level - 5 mmol/l = x / 2 mmol/l = x units novorapid

eg

If i want my bg to read 5mmol but is reading 13.3 mmol/l i would do it as

13.3 mmol - 5 mmol = 8.3 / 2 = 4.15 units

so in theory i should get a reading of 5 from injecting 4.15 units of novorapid. If i'm right.

and a simple formula for counting carbs for a meal time injection is;

Total carbs / 15g* = x units novorapid

*Obviously this changes for each individual. For me 1 unit of novorapid deals with every 15 grams of carbohydrate i eat.

I know it all looks more like a bit primitive arithmetic by captain caveman but i think that this is the bit of math i was after.

Why can't the plunger on lyxumia pens be made to easier to compress? ie a lubricant
