Bg variance on inactive days

So after having a nightmare with my control while ill, I thought I had it back in control however after 5 days of poor control, wondering is it and changing the insulin, the set, am I still ill, and eating only meals keeping the alcohol to new years eve. I'm still waking with BGs of 12-15. Now before the holiday I had a pretty good start to using this pump and felt like I was doing well my meter was showing my average bg over 7 days was 8.3 now showing 12.2. As my job, Cleaning homes is reasonably active and I've been off since 23rd I now think it's my inactivity that's causing the raised BGs but I've aired on side of caution with temp basal and only increased 20/30% so as not to cause hypo. Do others using pumps find your time off work causes massive changes in insulin needs and needs considerably more to keep you within normal range.

That's why people have work basals and weekend basals. As you are not active and you have an active job, it would stand to reason you need a different rate. :)

I'm just gobsmacked and the amount of variance work and days off create. 2 days back in work and my BG although not steady have been between 4-10.
I just didn't realise the variance was gonna be so great. But it's another learning curve I suppose. Not looking forward to my next lazy day. Although I think I'm just gonna schedule one so I can work it out as best I can.

@lely, cleaning homes is hard work (or so my wife tells me ;)) so I'm not surprised you've noticed a difference in your bg levels when not at work.

@CarbsRok advice about having a different basal programme for work and leisure makes perfect sense.

i clean for my job too. over christmas i was on ratios of 1u for 5g carb and now, back at work i'm on 1u for 25g carb as normal. crazy! cleaning is good for you!!!!! :)

It definitely keeps the bingo wings at bay.
Did you just change rations then and not you basal over the holidays.

i'm currently not using my pump, having a break. so yes and no, i raised my levemir basal doses but it was the bolus i raised more. on the pump i would have also raised both. not that it seemed to work. my body hates me not being active and so throws a wobbly! i think it was to do with lack of routine and not eating when i usually do as well.
