I've a feeling my backround insulin needs tweaking!! I take a spilt dose if levemir of 6 in the morning (7am) and 8 in the evening (7pm). I then take nova rapid with meals at a ratio of 0.5:1. 1:1 for breakfast if I haven't been exercising the evening before.

I've noticed I'm perfectly in range going to bed but then I seem to rise to 9's when I wake in the morning. Then the opposite happens when I'm ready to eat lunch later I'm low, sometimes hypa and fell my BI is dragging me down!?

Any thoughts or help would greatly be appreciated. Thanks Conor

Monitor your bg for a couple of nights to see what happens, it might be that you need to increase the night-time dose but it could also be down to the Dawn Phenomenon. There's also the possibility that your bg is going low during the night and your waking bg is the result of the rebound (Samoygi Effect), either way you won't know unless you check your bg.

As for going low at lunch, make sure it is your basal and not your breakfast insulin, try skipping breakfast one morning and see if your bg continues to drop before lunch-time, if it does then you need to reduce your morning basal dose, if it doesn't drop then your breakfast insulin to carb ratio is wrong.

I agree with Noblehead. It looks like the breakfast dose may be too high and running into lunchtime? Otherwise yet tweak the Basals but leave a few days after each tweak to settle down.
