My hubby cooked me a lovely bit of steak tonight. 3 BIG FAT JUICY mushrooms with blue cheese melted on the top.

It was delicious, but i have no idea what the carb count would be, anyone know ?

Hi Chez,
The carbs would be negligible, mushrooms on most varietys 0.2g carbs per 40g, the steak and cheese would only have a trace if any.

Wooo HOoo doin a little dance now

Nice recipe! I shall have to try that . My Husband LOVES mushrooms and our local butcher sells big ones for stuffing  . He also sells green groceries.

a different take on mushrooms

fry off some of those big ones (chopped smaller) add some kale or cavalo nero (posh italian kale like stuff) add some pine nuts and at the end some gorgonzola or dolcellate to melt over the hot veg

scrummy (even the husband likes it and he does not do green stuff much or blue cheese - he was even going to make it tonight)

we have to get our kicks where we can

Mmmm reminds me of a non-bolognaise sauce my mum used to do me when I was veggie - fry up some mushrooms onions and red peppers in butter and just stir into spaghetti! Yumm!

And, of course, bean sprouts look like spagetti but without the carbs - & they cook quicker :D

Roll on summer, runner beans are my all time favourite spaghetti substitute

Yum, thanks for the idea Ian, might try with the stir-fried courgette strips as well!

most varieties of mushrooms contains about half a gramme of carbs per 100 grammes - so scoff away ;) ... I like to saute some thinly sliced red onion and throw it over some big upturned portabello mushrooms, add some shredded mozzarella and grill ... pine nuts over the top melted into the cheese ... goooo-tastic :)

Tried the mushrooms last night. big hit with T1 husband. Delicious. I put them on a slice of salami in the oven.

I eat loads of mushrooms. I particularly like the really big ones baked in the oven stuffed with garlic butter.

Caitycakes x

Did the big portabello mushrooms the other night, fried them in butter, then added a large slice of goats cheese on top, in the oven for ten minutes, delicious!

yum goats cheese.............

yesterday i had some small acorn squashes hollowed out with pesto in the bottom and then topped with goats cheese, baked in the oven til all melty

gorgeous
