Your posts are my thoughts about myself but I've lost 3.5st not 5.
However my immobility started before weight loss... I think.
I was walking through a school pathway and found I was leaning to one side and very unsteady on my feet. I then developed weakness and then back pain. I've always walked everywhere. I've train travelled all over the UK and parts of Europe. I've always loved walking whenever I've wanted to.

I now cannot walk without huge pain and often end up crying due to it. Today was a prime example. My partner walks very very fast with his long legs and with 5yr old being off sick but no longer contagious I'm expected to keep up. We were carrying a tiny bit shopping and I'm in total agony. My leg goes numb on my right from scatica but not always numb so don't feel it's neuropathy. Definitely scatica as often not numb but back locks up with my pelvis and I cannot move without twisting my whole body to accommodate these problems.

I too don't believe diabetes is my back/leg/bum pain cause.
I don't believe my iron deficiency anaemia is fixed well enough yet and wonder if lack of oxygen is making my pain worse. My so called asthma has nearly vanished. Which tells me more anaemia related than asthma. However pain takes my breath away.
I'm back to see the physio consultant at the end of the month.
He's asked me to think of 3 things I want him to help me with.
I just want to walk without pain, painkillers none existant.... Like everyone else around me.
I don't think diabetes can be the cause of this.
Does anyone thou?

Have you asked to or do you think you might want to ask your gp. To refer you to a neurologist. As that is the right person who will be able to order the tests to find what’s really going on. I know that after a severe attack of hypokaleamia in 2003 I was never the same. My thighs were weak. There never recovered. What I’ve noticed is the more weight I’m losing the worse my legs are. This was all a long time before I was diabetic.

They conveniently ignore these things because it’s easier to clump things as diabetic related and they are not.

I forgot to add that I have the same issue with people who walk fast or even at a normal pace. It perpetuates my issues. Mine is far worse when I got home and start to relax then comes to cramping and it’s unrelenting. I walk very very slowly.

Me too. I'm shattered and in huge pain until I take my next dose of painkillers whilst relaxing.
My morning painkillers aren't working any more.
They have to build up before less pain.

Seeing MSK consultant at 7pm at my next appointment so they never see my real pain issues but at least i can concentrate on what's being said.
I'm going back to gp this week as I've had better pain relief than this and he did say he could help if tramadol stops working again.
I just need to walk as my bgs are sky high. Swollen tummy is back too so more pressure on my back. Swelling is due to bacterial infection in stomach.

oh gosh yes they booted golden wonder out of town didn’t they. Funnily enough I was in Germany not so long ago. Apparently it’s a leader in diabetic friendly restaurants and the whole low carb food system. So tomorrow I’ll be doing my research. I’ll be going back in October so hopefully will see what these eateries are like and what the low carb foods are like. There were none I found in Cologne. So it’ll be dusseldorf and beyond. I’ll post what I discover here
If you are in Berlin apparently there is a fab low carb/ketogenic place there. Its in a thread on here somewhere with yummy photos. No crisps needed after that!

I have been using this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Confidence...cise-Exerciser/dp/B01C8ERMQK/ref=cts_sp_3_vtp

It puts no strain on your muscles or joint it does all the hard work for you. What it does it burn calories. It won’t strengthen muscles because it’s has zero resistance. So you may find it useful

I will show my physio next week to see if it will help as my back is broke. If too much pressure just moving I will be reluctant but I'm up for anything. Just wish my body was.

I hope they say yes. My back is still not better from when I fell years ago. I plonk it on the sofa and away I go.

Although I am not in a wheelchair nor have difficulty with walking briskly I invested in a 'Bodyblade'. It was developed by a physiotherapist trying to help patients recovering from surgery and can be used sitting. It uses vibration to exercise the muscles and to encourage a stronger 'core'. Initially work on a minute alternate days, a minute can be exhausting, and then gradually increase the length of time and number of repetitions. I lost 10 kilos over a number of weeks and lost my bingo wings that were starting to show. The blades are available on Ebay, as it is all plastic/rubber and is handheld there is no problem with sharing, and instructions/exercises are available on youtube. There is a fun group Facebook too. When stuck indoors for whatever reason they are a good start for exercise.

Hoping to get to see gp tomorrow about severe pain now tramadol no longer working.
Fingers crossed.

Let us know how you get on. I now know to a degree why my muscles are wasting. Appareantly the rapid twitching means my muscles never get to rest it’s like they are constantly working morning noon and night. I still have tests and test results to come back so should know more in a few months.

Sending you good vibes for tomorrow
