I was diagnosed as type 2 on the 8th October with a fasting blood sugar of 14.1 and a HbA1c of 8.2 I've been controlling this with 2 x metformin 500 per day and diet. I went back to the nurse last week so she could retest my bloods a month in to see how well i was doing and my results were blood sugar of 6.4 and HbA1c of 7.3 I was really please with this improvement given that it had only been a month.

But was soon brought down to earth when the nurse informed me that the doctor wanted to up my tablets to 4 x 500 per day. Maybe i'm just being silly but i'm really gutted by this. if my blood cell live for 3 months then my latest reading still includes 2 months of chocolate peanuts, Haribo sours and Percy pigs.

Ah.....it's a hard life, mind you I don't think the last stuff you mentioned is part of a 'balanced' Diabetic diet ???

So, console yourself that you are improving and that next time you won't be eating the junk ! Stick with it, you have done well so far....... :)

lol I haven't had any sweets since i found out I was diabetic

Yay, one month on (two months since diagnosis) fasting blood sugar of 6.6 and HbAc of 6.5

Yay Yay Yay 6 months since diagnosis and my HbAlC is 5.5

so happy

Thanks everyone for all the advice

Lyn

latest results fasting 5.6
HbA1c 5.0

Told the nurse i was off to eat a whole packet of Haribo, she wasn't impressed

Well done! But honestly sugar free Werthers Originals are a better option-they actually taste good too
