Haven’t tried it as a treatment but love it in a curry, gives a dry sour umami taste - a but like tamarind does.

I haven't. I think there are much older threads about it from around 2019/2020 - I recall it being talked about when I first joined the forum.

Nothing I recall seeing had anything worrying that would make me say that you shouldn't try it: but equally (for me anyway) there was nothing compelling. I guess the other factor is cost - OK to give it a go maybe at £2 a week, maybe not if someone is trying to charge £200....

Not the vegetable, the "extract of...whatever" advertised courses of pills/tinctures etc. There are some remarkable costs, almost as unbelievable as the claims made.
I read the question as being about bitter melon, not a supplement made from a vegetable you can buy and use for cooking!

It's not all that common in the UK. I think the last time anyone asked about bitter melon, it was in the context of buying a very expensive course of "extract of" bitter melon pills from a supplier on the internet. If I remember correctly (which might not be the case) the cost of the "treatment" was in the £hundreds.

I cook bitter melon with jaggery and have been juicing it with lemon to kill the bitter taste and it’s done wonders for the blood sugar
