Got a bit of a fright whilst changing my ACCUCHECK tenderlink cannula.
As I pulled the old one out of my skin it bled like mad !,
The blood actually spurted out about three or four inches  then after a few seconds it just ran down me in a little red river - lots of blood.
It didnt hurt and change overs are not normally like that - ( usually little or no blood )
But this is just a heads up to other pump users - that this can SOMETIMES happen.
Mustve had it near a vein ??? or posibly , through my fat and into muscle perhaps ???
Anyow if it happens to you dont worry just grab the cleenex and apply pressure.
Quite funny in a monty python / young ones kind of way ...

Sounds scary twedspeed!

This happened to me at the weekend, and I assumed that I had pulled teh cannula out wrong! It has happen a total of 3 times in 9 months now. Like you say..doesn't hurt, but ruins your clothes if you don't notice at first.

Would be interested to see if anyone knows why this happens though....it really isn't that bad, but if it can be avoided that would be better. :D

Happened to me too with the rapid d, woke up in agony and the set was pretty much detached from leg and blood all over sheets and running down my leg!!

Now when I wear my sets on my legs i make sure they are covered by a tubigrip, and have found that this actually also gives me more confidence to know that I cannot possibly pull it out acidentally. I continue to wear iot over the set day and night, and know I can pull jeans/trousers/leggings down and I cannot possibly catch it. I don't know whether the tubigrip gives a little bit more pressure to the set staying firm, but my levels get even more stability with the tubigrip over it. I also use the tubi grip to hold my pump to my arms. Have to have 10ocm tubing but don't find any problems with the tubing at all. Using all of my legs from above knees also gives a lot more comfort than my beely where I was always hitting muscle or blood and discomfort.

Can now go all day and all night without worrying....absolute bliss....

i believe its when you hit a capilary blood vessel. I have a spot on the left side of my stomach I stay away from cos of this.

I've had it happen to me once or twice, i've always got the tissues at the ready when I change my cannula's. I didn't know you could use your legs?? I've only been told to use my stomach, at the moment i'm using the sillhouette cannula's....
