I.ve been on metformin for a few 2 months and have had antibiotics a week ago, finished them now,and now i have black stools and go to toilet 2 or 3 times a day is this normal.

Black stools could be caused by something serious I think you need to see your Dr as soon as possible , a few years ago I was given some Turbanafine tablets ( I think that's how you spell it ) for a fungal nail infection and my stools turned black and visiting the loo more often , I saw a different Dr who told me to stop taking the meds and it cleared up , I have since found out that particular med can attack your liver hence the black stools so I was lucky to stop when I did .

Hi Winky 57,

One of the rules of this forum is that we can't attempt to diagnose or give medical information, as no-one here is competent to do so on-line.

If you are at all worried about this the best and recommended course is to consult a medical professional - in the UK the first port of call is either your GP or 111.

Best of luck
