Hello everyone.

I hope you all have had a lovely Christmas.

Does anyone have any experience with bleeding months after laser treatment? The laser was supposed to avoid bleeding... Yesterday my husband (type 1 for over 35 years) had a bleeding inside his left eye.
I took him to hospital but they didn't do anything apart from taking pictures that confirmed the bleeding close to his central vision. The doctor said he should have been seen four months after the last laser session, but it's been six months and he hasn't been seen yet.
We're obviously worried about this bleeding and the lack of care.
Can anyone advise or share your experience so we can have any idea of what to expect, please?
Thank you in advance.

Sorry to hear about your husband @Trishhh

When I had laser treatment for bleeds in my eyes, I had to have 2 sessions of laser in one eye. The first treatment doesn't always close of all the vessels, and they want to do as little treatment as possible to preserve vision and peripheral sight. The second round was successful thankfully.

Successful treatment also doesn't prevent future bleeds in a slightly different area of the eye.

As far as eye check ups, I'd suggest ringing the consultants secretary or PALS if you can't get an appointment by ringing outpatients.
