Blood 6.7

Got my results from my first blood test and it is 6.7. Got to go for a 2 hr test. But not 'til 10th June. Got 2 questions (1) after I have had the first test and before I go back for the second test I have to drink lucozade (yuck), but am I allowed to have a cup of tea and anything to eat before the 2nd test? 'Cos I am useless without a cup of tea first thing in the morning before I take suzi for a walk - and lucozade won't fix that - I hate the yellow stuff. I remember being little and lucozade came in bottles with funny yellow cellophane paper on it. When I was a little I thought it looked really creepy. I think that's why I don't like lucozade. I was also scared of the Dr. Seuss book 'The cat in the hat.' ON a serious note is it likely I am diabetic or at the stage before diabetes? I wouldn't mind, but I have to walk everywhere 'cos I am epileptic and I might be a bit podgy but I don't think I am obese i.e. 5'2" 9 stone.

6.7 puts you in the prediabetic range - anything over 7 equates to diabetic.

My doc repeated the fast test so I don't have any experience of your next test but I'd say the only thing you can have is the lucazade. You'll cope - it's only two hours and you can have a nice cuppa after you're done.

Diagnosed prediabetic Easter 2014. Just left to get on with it, no guidance or help from GP. Every day I'm learning something new.

I had my 2 hour GTT done at the hospital the drink they gave me was lemon flavoured and came in a packet which they stirred into the cup of water it was really sweet just like syrup the lemon flavour helped get it down though
I had to fast for 12 hours before mine having nothing but water to drink

Hi Suzzi, welcome.

Is that a fasting BG of 6.7 mmol/l or an HbA1c of 6.7% (8.1 mmol/l)?
