Another question my doc when she told me I was pre diabetic three days ago fave me the blood result of 44. What is this? Sorry for the dumb question guys

The 44 is the result of an HbA1c test, used to diagnose diabetes.
Under 42 is non-diabetic
42 to 47 is pre-diabetic
Over 47 is diabetic.
The HbA1c is a clever test that measures an average of your blood sugars over the previous 2 to 3 months. Your result means you are at risk of becoming diabetic fairly soon unless you take steps to reverse it.
I see you have already had information about buying a blood glucose meter and some introductory advice.
My advice to you is to ask at your surgery for a print out of your test results. These will contain all the tests you had, not just glucose tests. Things like cholesterol, lipids, kidney and liver functions and full blood count. All these are important for us, and we need to know where we stand now, and whether we improve or not at future blood tests. If you are in England you could also ask if your surgery puts test results on line as they are supposed to do, and how to register for this.
