Insulin
Hi, I have just started on one a day basal insulin, I'm type 2. I'm confusd on what order to check my bloods and eat meal and take my insulin. I have to take one dose of insulin before breakfast but not sure when to test my bloods? Do I test, take insulin, wait the half hour then have breakfast, or take insulin, wait half hour, test and eat breakfast, I know to retest 2 hours after eating. Oh so confused. These initial test results will be looked at to adjust the dose so want to do it right. I could ask my diabetes nurse but will look an idiot.

Basal insulin is just a background insulin that keeps bg steady between meals and during fasting (sleep) so it doesn't matter when you inject it as long as it's 24 hours apart from the last time you injected, don't be afraid to ask your DN when you should test so that they can advise you on adjusting your basal insulin.
