Many Thanks

I know this might only work for me but it might do so for you so you may as well try it.

My last meal is also around 1700 and a couple of weeks ago I started making sure there were no carbs in that meal. Just that one meal, the one in the evening.

Since then I have been getting lower morning readings.

cheers Squire , i will give it a go , just strange how it comes down after evening meal but then by morning its up , dont get it ..

Your liver provides sugar when you don't eat food. Look up dawn phenomenon or liver rush.

cheers again Squire, had a read up about dawn phenomenon, and they suggested a test about 3.30 in the night ( nice) , so i done bg before bed and it was 5.2 then done at 3.30 and had a reading of 7 , then done again at 5.15 when up for work and was 7.2 , are these **** readings or should i be concerned ?

Those can be regarded as fasting readings and they are higher than those expected of a non-diabetic. If you went to your doctor's surgery for fasting readings then two of them over seven would confirm you as being diabetic. The diagnosis depends on you having the tests done at the surgery using approved equipment to avoid you frightening yourself with what might prove to be inaccurate readings.

You already know that you are diabetic so there is no need to concern yourself further. Just carry on with the diet/medication as you are probably already doing.

i dont take meds , with them readings do you think i should , as the only time it seems to go up at the mo is at night , and that has only been in last 2 wks , but cant think what i have changed for the bg to go up at night , or has the diabetes progressed .what do you think squire , trip to quacks ? or just get on it at the gym?

I would never stop anyone from going to ask the doctor since he/she knows the answers. I am just another patient.

The initial medication that is offered is often Metformin which does not make much difference to blood sugar levels. In my opinion I think you should work on your menu/diet and go to the gym if you find it helps. All of this might not help the fasting level much either so you and your meter will have to keep on researching until you find what works for you.

Thanks for your input and time , been very helpful and its nice to know that im not the only going through this life changing illness, going to just march on and see what unfolds , thanks again .

Was only diagnosed on Tuesday and decided to try and cope without Metformin. Had good readings Wednesday but last night after dinner went to 14. Tested again after breakfast and gone up a bit more. Could porridge account for high reading this morning? Still all new to me
