Blood glucose levels stubbornly high

Hi! I am a type I diabetic and the below experience happens to me once in a while. My blood glucose levels are currently very high. I am taking 50% more insulin than my usual and eating 50% less than usual if not lesser but whatever I do the glucose levels are not coming down. I remember reading about it on here before when others shared their experiences and I got some brilliant advice in the forum's although my clinical nurse specialist had no idea. Can someone direct me if that advice is still available on here please. Thank you.
P.S: the BGL s drop only when I do some intense exercise but jump right up after I stop.. however, this is not my usual experience.

Hi @iameshu and welcome to the forums.

The advice is probably still here but it's going to be a little difficult to find without some more information. (There are a lot of threads about high readings).

Do you have any idea about when you read it? Was it a long thread (many posts, many years?) Any more memories of what was in it?

I'm fairly good with the search function but I don't think I've got enough to go on at the moment...

It would help to know your insulin regime - basal/bolus, pump, something else?

In the meantime I'll suggest just a few of the many possibilities

1) any changes in lifestyle (activity, weight, stress) that could be affecting your insulin needs?
2) any chance you have an infection (eg a UTI) which could be affecting you?
3) Have you just had covid
4) Are you sure your insulin hasn't gone off, your insulin pens are working and your injection sites are OK?

I'm on basal/bolus and I find it very hard if my basal is not the right amount.... I also find my insulin resistance goes up whenever I am high.

Good luck, I expect some more T1s will post soon.

Hi Thank you for taking the time to respond. Well the last time I saw the discussion in the forums here was maybe a few years ago.. I just googled and voila it popped up. I basically put the same search string as my original post. But this time nothing is coming up.

I am on novorapid/tresiba and nothing majorly changed in my life style.

I did clear all my stock of insulin making the same assumption that you did to see if it will work but No.

I infact took 15 units of novorapid last night and 52 units of tresiba . My normal is 10/26 and yetvlast night my BGL reading was 19. I had to go on the rowing machine at 3 a.m and drink a litre of water to flush out excess sugar. I ate much less than what I would normally eat. My BGL currently is 6.1 but I haven't eaten anything in the last 18 hrs.
