Blood Glucose Meters

Hi.. I'm newly diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. I had gestational diabetes with my last pregnancy in 2016 and was given a contour ts meter which I've still got. I'm after advise if there are any other meters that are more economical for test strips and lancets? As while I was pregnant I was able to get them on prescription. But not sure I will be entitled to it now I've had my baby. And the strips/lancets seem quite expensive to buy. I was just wondering if it would be worth it in the long run to get a different meter which uses cheaper strips/lancets.
Also what are the healthy ranges for blood glucose levels for first thing in the morning, before and after meals? As I'm still waiting to see a doctor since being diagnosed and the levels were slightly different for when I was pregnant.
Thanks x

Here are some meters that are popular on the forum:

Taken from a post by @Bluetit1802 as she wrote it so nicely:

The most popular meters for self funding T2's are the Codefree and the Tee2 because the strips are much cheaper than other meters, and you need a lot of strips. You can't buy them in pharmacies.

Try here for the Codefree meter

and here for the extra strips

There are discount codes if you buy in bulk.

5 packs 264086

10 packs 975833p

The Tee2 is here and the meter is free.

Don’t forget to check the box that you have diabetes so you can buy VAT free. (for either meter)

I have the SD Code Free from Home Health, the strips are the cheapest you can get. If you buy 10packs of 50 with the discount code above they work out as £5.98 per pack.
