Have been testing frequently to try and identify foods that cause a spike. Monitor used - battery I felt needed replacing, I had a spare different type of monitor, each one uses different batteries.

Has anyone fathomed the best monitor to use based on battery
replacement. From my point of view the AAA 1.5 alkaline battery
type is an easier battery to get hold of. I had a problem with
the other type lithium 3 v. Annoying because I had test strips for that monitor but could not set up I think because battery was out of date or not definitely not functioning. All of these small but important annoyances make life just that bit harder.
It would be so much easier at least to begin with if all monitors
were simplified same battery, and test strips that could be used in any monitor.

Hi @Zixx and welcome to the forum. I have used two different monitors over the years, both used Lithium CR2032 s, which are readily available in Tesco or on Amazon as two suggestions. I think you’ll find that all monitors have specific testing strips and are not interchangeable.

Edited to give the correct code for batteries

My preference is for something small if I have to carry a meter with me all the time.
Anything using AAA batteries is not small.
My meter uses the CR2032 batteries which are easy to buy online. As we have a number of appliances using these batteries, I buy a pack at a time.
And carry spare batteries with me when I go away overnight.

Current meter uses AAA, previous one used CR2032 button battery

An issue I found with the current one is that the readings became wildly unreliable due to a low battery but before the meter "low battery" warning triggered (5.0 then 16.1 then after battery changed 6.4 and 6.6). If the first one hadn't been so low, in hypo territory, I wouldn't have suspected an issue
