I have been monitoring my BG with an accu check compact. My fasted as always been over 6mmol/L and takes over 2 hours to drop from 8-9mmol/L after eating.

On checking my fasting levels checked this week at the docs, my BG was below 6mmol/L?? And doc told me it was normal?
He's sending me for a HbA1c test though to confirm, as with my home monitor, my readings are always higher.

Are the home monitoring kits that accurate?

There are as accurate as the ones used by your doctor which is that they have to work within a tolerance of + - 20% which can make quite a difference especially with higher levels but that is all thats available at the moment, in day to day use thay are quite accurate.

The HbA1c is accurate and will generally be lower than an average taken of your meter readings, this is quite normal Chilisi.

I see from your profile that you are not diabetic so try not to worry until the day comes when you are, or at least until you are diagnosed as pre diabetic. Worry just causes stress which then causes more worry, try to break the circle if you can

Thanks, I'm getting the HbA1c today, so hopefully that will be low as well.
