This morning I took my first bg on my new meter.I am 3 or 4 weeks into my new low carb lifestyle after an HB1C 0f 76.
My fasting bg was 5.7.My question is, how does this rate? Good ,bad,OK, or what?

4-7 is the range for fasting reading. 5.7 is good! Well done!

I retested 2 hours after a bacon and eggs breakfast with green tea and got 5.4.

I am a little sceptical about these readings.I wouldn't have thought such a big drop was likely.
I'm sure I tested correctly, washed my hands and followed instructions.

Time will tell. However I am encouraged, for now anyway

"I am a little sceptical about these readings"
I'm quite good at finding excuses for higher-than-they-should-be readings. I'm dehyrated. Hot. Cold. Soapy fingers. Blunt lancet. Battery dying, etc
But when I get a low one - woo-hoo! You beauty!! I always believe it.

    Yes, it's a great start.

5.7 to 5.4 isn't a big drop, in fact with the margin of error that a BG meter has, you could even have had a rise not a drop.

You are right, time will tell and patience along with perseverance are essential.

Good luck, you will always be supported on this forum.
