blood glucose test results BEFORE a meal

we are considering a slightly new diet.
we know that the numbers one hour and 2 hour after a meal are important (ala Jenny Ruhl)
but if the number before the meal is a tad on the high side then the after meal numbers have to be high.
6.7, 6.4, 7.3. before , 1 hr, 2hr. the 7.3 is a tad high for us hoping to stay in the 5% club.
where do we find just what INCREASE in the numbers is okay?
thanks all

Yes, the rise should be less than 2mmol/l and preferably less than that. I aim for 1mmol/l rise or less, but am happy with 1.5 if I have eaten more carbs as long as I am back to base at 2.5 hours..

Had my highest meal rise tonight.

Friday is treat night. Used to be pizza. Now a de carbed version of my missus killer lasagne. More meat and chopped veg. Less pasta. Used to use 7 or 8 sheets. They work out on the numbers at around 18 to 20g each sheet. Now it's 4 sheets. Allowing for carbs we missed it's safe to call it 100 for the dish to feed 3. Maybe 4 but we pigged and scoffed the lot between us. Stuffed now.
Just as tasty but still nett me my biggest rise of 1.6. Several times this week its been around 0.7.

Trouble is with diabetes your numbers could be badly affected by someone sneezing in Canada.

Has she thought of trying slices of courgette or aubergine (a la moussaka) or even sliced leeks as a pasta alternative?

No haven't started with those tricks yet. Have been measuring and checking what we were eating which actually was pretty good. Generally around 100 per meal per person as a rule.
Have to be careful as the kids are both sporty, no1 massively so, (plays premier league hockey) and low carb is bad for them so working on a balance.

Kids can eat low carb just make sure they have plenty of protein..

Thought it was not so clever for adolescents to go low carb. No1 can burn some serious calories.
If its more endurance than sprint then lower carb can often mean not running out of energy.. a lot of ultra endurance athletes are going to keto because they don't hit "the wall" because they are using body fat for fuel rather than carbs. Mihgt not worth for Usain Bolt but for longer distance runners/cyclists it seems to be pretty good.
Edit to add fat has more than twice as many calories than carbs although personally I think CICO is seriously flawed.

Think along the lines of rugby with sticks and more running.
