Not been diabetic for long 4mths or so put on metformin 2 mths ago was ok at first but the last 2 weeks after having instant headaches, shaking, and gen feeling unell started to do my bloods,19.8 was the 1st so this is prob why i felt ill,but since then i can have breakfast (do bloods b4) they will be 15 or so when ive eaten toast or something it then goes up a bit then take my pill and half hr or so after this its back up to 18 + the lowest its been this week is 11.6.spoke to the docs and she said if you get to 20 then we get a bit worried mine has been 19.8 many times but she didnt seem to hear me.She said she gong to do bloods to get an average so made me an appointment in 3 weeks to get blood test with the nurse,seems a long way off when im feeling like ***** all the time.anyone got any advice for me.and what happens when and if it does get to 20 what should i do ? i dont eat a lot of sugar and my pal said no sugar is bad.im so confused.and im not to sure how to use this site im assuming i can get emails from people.thanks for any help you can give

I'm in a similar position-diagnosed new year with type 2 and with reducing carbs and taking 2 different diabetic drugs-my levels have more than doubled to the point that my meter only registers up to 33mmol/l and I often go beyond that and get a 'HI' message and my fasted blood glucose is around the 21mmol/l mark and the nurse didnt seem interested or worried about that so I've been badgering my GP because I feel so awful and he has referred me to a Diabetes consultant at the hospital so i can get the treatment I need because he IS worried by those levels.
If your nurse is like mine-don't waste your time and go and see the organ grinder and not the monkey-I empathise with you totally,blood sugars over 17mmol make you feel like **** and I'm done in just trying to cook a meal these days! :sick:
Be noisy at the GP's and hope I you get taken seriously and some answers! :wink:

Hi thanks for that yes they are pretty rubbish at my docs and im not happy as she just on one hand told me 3 and under isnt good and 20 and above isnt good,and im 19.8 or so a lot my hearts going ten to the dozen most of the time i get instant headaches and the shaking is awfull.I also have ALPHA 1 which is getting pretty bad at the mo to but im at hospital tomorrow yes a saturday they must need the money so doing a clinic on saturday,and my hubby has app monday night at 8.40 lol so dont know what going on there.Anyway back to meeeeeeeee lol il ring the docs back up on monday and get bugging them,3 weeks for a blood test beyond a joke cheers for the reply paul

Have you tried to reduce your carbs dawnie? At under 50gs a day, all my readings are now in the normal range. It is worth a try if it makes you feel better.
