I see my Diabetes doctor 4 times a year 3 times blood test only, And 1 time Both What does a urine test tell them that a Blood Test does not ?? Also curious what test you get in the UK or elsewhere Globally ??

I think they are looking for protein or blood in the urine as markers of possible kidney damage
They do annual urine tests here too

Yes, I have 2 urine tests a year. One is just done by the nurse with a dip stick and tests for blood, protein and glucose. The other is sent off to the lab for a full analysis of creatinine and albumin.

The urine tests for microproteinuria, and is a measure of kidney damage occurring.

I get regular blood tests, but I have only had two urine tests after I started on Metformin. All of which are done at the pathology shop.
