Yes, it came from the USA and everyone follows like sheep. It will be 110/50 within a few years and we will all be on BP tablets from birth. The numbers are just plucked from thin air and not based on good science. BP level depends greatly on age and because it increases as you get older doesn't mean that it needs to be moved down to 120/60.
At my surgery they could reduce everyone's blood pressure by simply having more parking spaces.I have my own BP monitor and from time to time I take it several times a day. I have done this today, coincidentally. It has ranged from 106/66 (lowest) to 131/71 (highest), average 118/68, all taken sedentary. Just like blood glucose and cholesterol, it varies from minute to minute. As for BP taken at the surgery, my GP told me she mentally knocks 10 off the top number to take account of white coat syndrome, stress and anxiety whilst in the surgery.

3 weeks ago at my hospital for my diabetes appointment my BP was high, 150/ ?? the nurse took it first then my doctor, so I had a BP review at my surgery today and it was 101/66, so that is more in my range.
I take losartan I also take Co-trimoxazole I have seriously been cosidering discontinuing the Losartan since reading this.@bulkbiker
My thoughts exactly. More profit for Pharma. I've stopped my Losartan, GP knows. I feel fine so far, fingers crossed.
How does a fitness bracelet measure your blood pressure? My firness bracelet tracks my BP throughout the day at the moment it is registering 112/75 not highly accurate but gives me a general guide as to what is going on as is not too far off from my upper arm cuff BP monitor readings.
My apologies, I misread your intent.@Dr Snoddy what's funny about me having a BP of over 150 ?
Not sure has to do with surface pressure differentials at wrist I think though omron are bringing one out soon with an actual wrist cuff type bp monitor built in. Or already have. How does a fitness bracelet measure your blood pressure?

I can see how the one in the video would work as it has a pump to restrict blood flow but a fitness bracelet, I have no idea how that could work. Not sure has to do with surface pressure differentials at wrist I think though omron are bringing one out soon with an actual wrist cuff type bp monitor built in.
