Yes indeed, I was advised to stay well clear of the wrist bp monitors and buy the arm-cuff ones instead.
If I were you I'd take on board what everyone has said about taking your bp and record all your readings in a diary (you should have one that came with the monitor), in a few weeks time make an appointment with your gp and discuss your bp readings.....especially if they continue to creep up, if he suggests bp meds then it's not the end of the world as it's better to control bp than let it continue to rise and run the risk of a heart attack or stroke.
My own gp goes off my home readings and is quite happy to record them in my notes.
