Blood sugar levels confused

Last hbA1c was told result was 80, just had new result told its 20 what is happening? not on any meds at moment as have reacted to metformin, acarbose and gliclazide. Can any one explain the hbA1c to me please.
 
The HbA1c measures our blood in such a way that it gives a measure of how our average blood glucose has been over the previous month or so. The measurement you have been given is the new IFCC units, whereas you'll see a lot of us referring to our figures in the old units which were expressed as a percentage. I think, however, that you either misheard the figure of 20, or someone made a mistake, because that is almost unfeasably low I would think. A young, very healthy non-diabetic would have an HbA1c of about 27 minimum rising to about 37 max for an older non-diabetic. About the best (lowest) ever recorded on here for a diabetic is 30-31. I'd have thought that if your figure was 20, you'd be feeling exttremely ill. Low is good, but I'd have thought yours was impossibly low. Need to check I think.
 
Having spoken to my gp, its the blood sugar that is 20 not hbA1bc, and was 19.9 last time so it is nearly the same. My gp has referred me to the hospital diabetic nurse specialist for more advice. :| See what happens and how long it takes for hospital to contact me.

I have just been given a HbA1c levl - IFCC standardised - 32 mmol/mol

This is a result from my 2nd 3 month test.

I have requested a full copy of my results, however their computer has gone down.

Does 32 sound correct as I was diagnosed With type 2 eight months ago.

I know it looks good if correct.

That the problem, ( not such a bad problem).

For the last 6 months I have been on a vegan diet also no sugar,no fat and no oil. I do not think that I should continue with this diet long term.
The bg meter has been great towards control yet costly.

GraceK's advice on good fat also makes me think carefully on future control.

Hi Sheepy, my HbA1c was 28, Steve was 29 and I think Libby and Stephen were lower again. 25-26?
 
Morning,
afew weeks ago i was changed from metformin slow release to januvia 100mgs daily.
I also take Glycgacide 40 mgs twice a day.

when i was on metformin my morning blood prick testwas between 7 to 9. Since i am now taking Januvia, its usually 9-13.

i usually take the januvia at 6pm daily.

any help??
