Blood Sugar not coming down-

The numbers are suggested because diabetes complications occur with numbers consistently over those levels. I don't want to take further risks, and am on insulin, therefore I test. The nearer you can stay to normal, ie non diabetic numbers, the less damage there will be. You seem to have missed the point regarding testing at one and two hours after food. The point is to find out what effect the food has on your blood sugar, and whether you as an individual can tolerate it. We are all different, the approach of not testing may work for you, but it certainly works for me. How is youe A1C by the way?

Hello All, hope you all are good and healthy.

Just updating my Diabetic journey. So my Specialist doctor has informed me that i am T2 diabetic. My body is making insulin but blood is not consuming it properly. She has prescribed me with sitagliptin/metformin 50/1000 Extended Version.

She also told me i will be stopping insulin in few months if the above medicine can control my sugar plus doing some running and eating rite.

Gladly my blood sugars are coming down and now they are staying at 120-150 mark.

Praying for others and stay blessed.

Thanks,
Sami

Hello, Good After noon every one.

I hope every one is healthy and happy.

Thank you every one for the advice and recommendation. I appreciate every one, helping me, from bottom of my heart.

So, i have limited my Carbs by dropping bread/rice or any thing starchy..

Seems like my BG is going down.. Been two days haven't hit 200 mark. So that is a good sign. This morning BG, fasting was 160.

So, Here is my 2 days update..

Start the day, check the BG.

BG at 9:00 AM : 160-170. :( This is still high. need to get it down....

9:30 AM Breakfast: 1 brown bread slice with peanut butter and 1 boiled egg minus yolk. 12 Grams Carbs in the bread slice.

12:30 PM Lunch: Fresh Salad with chicken cubes in the afternoon. No dressing. Just plain salad. 20 Carbs.. Salad contains ( lettuce + baby tomatoes + sliced carrots + 7-10 chicken cubes- (grilled/fried)

4:00 snack: 1/2 apple + 1/2 guava. 10 Grams Carbs..

BG at 6:00 103-125

8:00: Dinner: 1.5 Chapati. Contains 15 grams carbs + veggie curry ( 15 Grams Carbs ). I know Chapati is raising my BG. Will cut it down eventually....

After Dinner Sugar level 175-200

Then at 10:00 PM i go to gym- walk/run/jog 7000 steps. Sugar is back to 100-125

I am still waiting for my appointment which is next Thursday.

I have few questions. Why morning BG is high. I don't eat any thing after 10:00 PM. Any specific reason ? Also do any one know what is alkaline phosphatase. I was just going through my blood report. That number was also in High Zone 132.. Not sure what that means..
Alkaline phosphatase is a liver enzyme. Maybe a marker of fatty liver disease.
Your diet is going in the right direction, you have really cut your carbs....but it might be advisable to cut them still further to bring your sugars down. I also note that you are still eating high fructose fruits, that will not help. Guava in particular, has a lot more than you think, and unless that apple is extremely small, it will have somewhere in the region of 15-20g carbs in it. Why are you eating the egg without the yolk? There is no need to do without this, this is where the fat and protein are stored. You need to ditch the bread. Baby tomatoes and carrots are again high in sugar. (Baby tomatoes are higher than a normal sized tomato, so you could still have tomato, but about a quarter inch slice? I'd ditch the carrots, too much starch and sugar. You still are eating way too many carbs from fruit and veg. I know you say that you will get rid of the chapati eventually, but it is really better to get rid of it now, since the longer you still eat chapati, the longer you will crave them. There are still carbs in your peanut butter, you need to count ALL carbs into your totals.

Hello,

I was diagnosed with Type 2 last week. Doctor has prescribed me metformin 500mg 2 Tablets after meal and 10 units insulin shot before sleep.

I have been strictly following this regiment and not consuming any sugary food. I am eating very less carb based food.

The problem here is my blood sugar is not lowering down. Here are the readings for a day..

Fasting ( in the morning ) 260
Afternoon after lunch 250
Night after taking insulin 220.

My Blood sugar is floating around 250's. The last time it went to 183 was, when i ran on treadmill for 1 hour. That's pretty much it.

I am worried. I spoke to my physician and he told me to adjust the insulin to 15 units. Not sure if i should do it or wait till my next appointment..

I have an appointment with endocrinologist next week. Should i wait till that appointment before i increase my insulin or just increase it and observe the sugar level ?

Help will be appreciated.
Have you been drinking a buttload of water? Water dilutes the sugar in the kidneys. It is very important. And it has to be watet. I was diagnosed about 2 mths ago. But on the days that I don't drink my quota of water my BS has been unusually high. See if that helps tje next couple of days.

Hey Sami :) hope you are feelling better. When my blood sugar is high i have a glass or 2 of lemon water (1-2lemons) depending how high .i also drink 2 liters of water immediately after the lemon water and my bood sugar also comes down .... if your looking for something more simple ...this last option is my favourite.... boil about 2 sticks of cinamon in about 500ml to 700ml water on stove top for atleast 20minutes or longer , having this "tea" every morning is helping me keep blood sugar right with all my medications as well...its also very yummy .... you will be okay :) i know it feels ****** now but it does get better .... <3
