Blood sugar out of control while sick

Hello everyone.

I am kind of desperate by now.
You see I am sick. I haven't tested yet but I suspect COVID.

I really cant control my blood sugar. It was about 10 mmol for the majority of yesterday.
Today I wake up and it's 14 mmol...

I try to inject various amounts of insulin and it doesn't really seem to do anything. At most, it lowers blood sugar by 1 or 2 mmol.

Any tips on what to do?

When our bodies are stressed, our liver dumps extra glucose to give our bodies the energy to fight.
When we have diabetes, we do not automatically release the insulin to use this glucose, therefore we need to inject more.
@becca59 's sick day rules are incredibly useful in this situation.
Remember
- if your level are persistently high you at risk of DKA so test your ketones as well as blood sugars
- if your levels are high, you become insulin resistant so need a higher correction than normal. When my levels are over 15, I need twice as much insulin (but we are all different so you may not need as much ... or more).
