Hi All,

I've been under the weather lately with a heavy cold/viral infection. Until recently my BG reading have remained fairly stable but the cold symptoms have got worse over the last couple of days and my post prandial readings have been much higher even though I haven't changed my foods which seemed to be fine for me pre-cold. I think I remember reading somewhere on here before that colds/illnesses can play havoc with BG levels - is this so and is it common?

Thanks

The simple answer is yes it does. I had a hard job keeping my blood glucose levels in control because of the dreaded lurgy. I couldn't take anything for it either as most cold / flu remedies are chock full of sugar, to make you feel better rather than actually cure it.
