I have type 2 diabetes and taking 1gm Metformin tablets twice a day. My blood glucose readings are changed since last week. after 2 hours of dinner my reading is around 15 and then I go for one hour walk jog combination which drops my reading between 7 -8. then I sleep. after 7-8 hours of sleep my fasting reading is between 9-10. then after 2 hours breakfast my reading is between 7-8. but since last night there is huge difference. my reading after 2 hours of dinner was 12.8 and then after 2 hours it came down to 8.2, then after sleeping for 7 hours fasting when I checked this morning reading was 14.4 and after 2 hours of breakfast it is 24.6. nothing changed in my diet, i did not eat anything extraordinary, had same meals which I have everyday and taking my regular medication. wondering whats wrong. my GP is away and will be back next week and I really do not want to different doctor as my current GP to whom I am seeing for years is very good and knows my history etc;

Is it possible that you are starting a cold, flu, tummy bug, or have developed another sort of infection?
Or are you stressed or sleep deprived?

All of those things can raise my blood glucose quite significantly, and keep it raised until the problem goes away.

I should keep monitoring it closely.

How long does it take to get an appointment at your surgery? It may be worth making one in advance, before your doctor gets back. You can always cancel it if you don't need it.

What do you have for breakfast and dinner?

You are concerned or you wouldn't have just joined to ask. obviously seeing a Dr now would be the best. This is what I would do.
If you want to wait a week to see your normal dr. I would get a pack of ketostrips from the chemist and check for ketones because of the sudden rise. The chemist will tell you how they work and what readings are a concern. I would be ok to wait till next week if my ketones were ok, otherwise, I would see a Dr now.

If it was me, my concern is that it has been a week and I haven't come down with an flu or such, to give a reason for the rise.
I know it's strange to say that I would feel better if I was sick.
