They can, but it's not usually an everyday occurence, and those highs in non diabetics tend to be very short. Is this normal? Do normal non diabetic blood sugars go this high?
Well according to my finger prick test at 20:11 I am 9.2. It will have been 2 hours at half 8.What was the food in your dinner?

Ah right, so I'm definitely diabetic still even though I'm (in remission) just so bloody stressful!!A pub Sunday lunch for me raises my Bloods from around 6 up to over 13 in the first 90 minutes, then gradually comes back down to around 8 at 2 hours, There are so many carbs in a Sunday lunch,Mash, roasties, turnip and carrots are all high carb. I am only recent Type 2 and HA1c of 49 - Its just how your body deals with the carbs I am led to believe as everyone is different.
Yeah potato mash dudeOh my, those are such British foods that I have no idea on the approximate amount of carbs in those, I'm Dutch!
Let me tag someone who actually knows what those foods are!
@KennyA , I see you're online and I expect you know what roasties, yorkshire pudding and stuffing are, help me out!
@Jakeinhd1995 , I suppose mash is potato mash? That one is very likely to raise your BG.
My understanding is that once you have been diagnosed as diabetic you will be for the rest of your life, it is the way you deal with it to lower it non diabetic ranges. So reducing carbs is a great way, however this then becomes the norm, if you then go back to eating more carbs you will be back in diabetic range again before you know it. Your body can't cope with the high carb content that is all, so keep it lower and you should be ok.Ah right, so I'm definitely diabetic still even though I'm (in remission) just so bloody stressful!!

So my 2 hour reading was 9.2...my libre 2 said 9.4Once a diabetic always a diabetic is my motto. I have a roast occasionally but know I can only tolerate one small roastie, a tiny piece of anything else carby, like Yorkshire, parsnips, carrots then I fill up on the meat and low carb veggies like cauliflower and broccoli.
I’m waiting to see what your two hour reading is anything above 6.7 shows you had too much carbs.
I absolutely hate this diseaseI'm sorry you find it so stressful.
What part is causing the most stress? we might be able to help by sharing what helped us.
Practically, would you have liked the meal if you had left out the mash and ate an extra chicken leg and some more of the veggies? It's only a small adjustment but it may mean a large difference in the numbers you see.
You starting out with a 4.7 shows that your baseline is very good, so it may well be it only needs some small tweaks to keep the post prandial numbers in range as well.
I’m glad it’s on the way down now, put it down to experience and think carefully about your choices next time a roast is on the cards. So my 2 hour reading was 9.2...my libre 2 said 9.4
Libre now says 8.6 so it's coming down after 2 hours and 15 minutes....
It definitely wasn't worth it!I’m glad it’s on the way down now, put it down to experience and think carefully about your choices next time a roast is on the cards.
I hope you enjoyed the dinner anyway and I hope the stress reduces as you get more accustomed to this life style
It's now at 6.4 and going down. 3 hours it's took all together to come down completelyIt definitely wasn't worth it!
