I’m surprised at these levels if you are low carbing. Are you sure you aren’t consuming other carbs somewhere? Fruit juice and smoothies are both out. Look at all product labels as some bought items can have a lot of carbs in them.
Also your liver will deliver glucose to your body in the hours just before you get up so a similar morning reading to your evening reading wouldn’t surprise me.
Download the app MySugr when you have entered at least 4 readings a day, and done that for a week, it will give you a pretty good estimate of your HbA1c.
Hi, I am most definately low carbing, and I am also now taking reading pre and post meals. Along with low carbs (less than 40g per day) I do not eat until 1pm or 2pm
5 days a week.
Consequently over the past 18 months I have lost 6kgs...and my blood sugar levels are 8.4 am and 8.2pm...so as you say this is surprising.
Thankfully my doctor now has my glucose readings and has authorised a Hbac1 tomorrow.
Is there any other blood tests the doc can do which might give me a clearer picture of what on earth is going on...
Thank you for your reply.
P.s I am also having a lot of hot flushes much more than a few months ago...
