I moved to 2 glicazide a day and my BS stabilised. But this last week they are in the 8s and 9s again. Same diet. Only difference is I am using my vape a lot more cutting down on smoking. I am due to quit today. Only got 1 cigarette left and buying no more tobacco. My husband is moving to patches. I can't use them. I have many health issues and disabilities and take over 25 tablets a day varying from antidepressants, to morphine, diabetes meds, hypertension, anti-spasmodics etc etc. The patches give me dreadful side effects.
I tried a nicotine spray yesterday and today. It warns of bs issues using it. I haven't reacted well to the spray either.
So I am using my vape. Could the liquids be causing the spike in my bs?

I can't go cold turkey again. I put a ton of weight on 4 years ago when i quit for 3 years. I have only been smoking again since December 2017 and I want to stop. I have only just got back to 16 and a half stones (104 kilo) after ballooning to 19 stones plus (122 kilos).

I can't exercise due to mobility issues and muscle spasms so weight loss is diet and determination only.

Ugh. Feels like a vicious circle. The smoking was caused by outside stress. That stress has gone now and it is the right time to stop again.

But my sugar levels?

There are many things which affect our BG.
Food/diet is the obvious one but our BG may be raised if we are stressed, ill, exercising less, if the weather changes (some find their BG raised when it is hotter than usual and some find it is raised when it is colder), if we don't sleep well, if we drink less alcohol, ...

I don't know about vaping but wonder if you are cutting down on smoking whether this is causing stress or lack of sleep.

I Vape atm and use vampire Vape liquid.
I also want to quit the Vape but am concentrating on my weight loss primarily, as personally this is much more important to me in regards to my overall health.
I did try to quit recently and had problems with patches also. I didn’t know about the spray raising bs levels, so thank you for that information.
My blood sugars are fine with my brand of Vape and LCHF OMAD diet. FBGS, Usually in the mid 4s.
I’ve read other people’s experiences regarding various prescription drugs, that they can affect BG levels.
You don’t say which Vape liquid you use, but it should list the ingredients on it, a quick google search should help.
Good luck with kicking the smoking habit, it really helps. My circulation and general well-being improved vastly within a month of quitting cigarettes.

My lack of sleep is a symptom of my chronic fibromyalgia with muscle spasm condition. Plus the symphysis pubis dysfunction causes stiffness and pain in my pelvis and hips when lying in bed, despite the memory foam mattress. My irritable bladder makes me get up for the toilet several times a night. I don't sleep longer than 3 hours straight without waking up. Usually it is about an hour or 2 though. Then I am awake for hours. I take my AM pills at 4am and then I usually sleep for a couple more hours. The antihistamine makes me sleepy.

I take Lofepramine, Lansoprazole, Losartan, Tizanidine, Norethisterone, Oxybutynin, Zomorph, Prochlorperazine, Seretide, Vitamin D, Vitamin B12, Chromium, Cetirizine, Glicazide, Metformin, oramorph on demand, Salbutamol on demand and sumatriptan on demand.

Some of these I take twice a day, and some are three tablets a day.

I am really quite a sick lady. Diabetes is really the least of my illnesses.

I have diabetes, vertigo, gallstones, irritable bladder, irritable bowel, fibroids, hypertension, orthostatic hypotension, symphysis pubis dysfunction, fibromyalgia with muscle spasms, carpal tunnel with nerve damage in my right hand, asthma, migraines, mobility problems and obesity. And I am only 44!! My PIP statement is 4 A4 sides long describing my illnesses, my meds and how they affect me.

My last HBA1C was 9.6

Poor you, I think I understand why you are stressed and feel the need for a fag, that’s quite some list!
I personally found initially getting my blood glucose down to under 7, losing weight (especially) and stopping smoking led to some of my other health problems greatly improving. I used to be on a lot more medication than I am today, nearly 5 months on from diagnosis.
What does your daily diet consist of? Is it low carbohydrate? Do you have a blood glucose meter? I found cutting right down to less than 20g carbs a day, brought my BGS down, quickly and made the weight melt away. Not sure how a low carbohydrate diet like mine works for someone on glicazide and your other meds though, hopefully someone will come along with more knowledge and help.
As I said, I’m not even attempting to give up vaping yet, got to have some pleasures whilst adjusting to a new regime. Vaping is much better than tobacco, less chemicals (no smoking clinic told me that) so try not to be too hard on yourself at the moment x

Thanks for the support. I am not specifically on a low carb diet. On top of those health conditions I have food allergies and intolerances. I am allergic to eggs and cheese gives me anaphylaxis. It makes my throat close up and burns. I have to carry an adrenaline pen, steroids and antihistamines with me in my bag in case I go past somewhere pumping out cheese into the environment. It is like a nut allergy. I am allergic to the histamine in it. Can't eat red meat either. So I often eat vegetarian and vegan, with a bit of chicken or fish. I love veg as well. I have lost nearly 3 stones since 2015 just by diet alone. I have cut down on carbs, but just eating veg and pulses leaves me very hungry. I know eggs are filling but can't have them. Diabetes is a nightmare for me food wise.

I enjoy the vaping too and this morning my bs was 5.6!! Yay!! I think the quickmist was pushing them up. So I gave it to my husband who is using it now with patches.

I am glad to be off the cigarettes though.
