I am a so far unconfirmed type 2, and have been managing my diet to try and reduce risk or effects.
My fasting BS is around 7.2 and usual BS around 6.5 at meal times and just under 11 after meals.
Just the other day I had a bad bout of the trots and in the heat at mine felt a little de hydrated.
I contacted my local pharmacist who recommended dioralyte which I took around 1 am tuesday morning.
I ate as normal but the next lunchtime my BS was at 13.3.
I starved myself yesterday to reduce it and got it back to 6.5 before dinner, then split my meal in two.
Today at lunch time it was 9.3, I just had a plain chicken sandwich and have had nothing since, my BS is currently 8.5.
The main question is ketones, which show negative when my BS is high, but appear when its dropping, currently at 1.5mmol/l with a BS of 7.9.
I am overweight as I am bedbound and also under a lot of stress this week, but am I getting myself worked up over something thats nothing more than a reaction to my not eating? could the hight BS be a hangover effect from the dioralyte which I have now found is loaded with sugar and glucose ( my pharmacist told me it wasnt)
I should add that over the last month I have increased my protien intake as I have eaten chicken/ham and cheese as low carb snacks.
