my 8 year old is really struggling at the moment with a long list of symptoms but today has had a new one and im wondering if it was because his blood sugars dropped rapidly these were the results on his blood meter
7.30am- 6.1
10.40am- 24.4
11.41am- 12.2
12.23am- 4.6
the symptom he had was a loss of feeling in his hand to a point he tried biting himself and said he couldnt feel it this was accompanied by a bad mood swing, has anyone else suffered from this ive phoned his nurse and she said phone if it happens again because he is changing his levemir next week to lantus so it should solve the problem
thanks anna marie

what had Dylan eaten in that time and what dosage had he taken?

he had 2 crumpets for breakfast that was it he doesnt have mid morning snack at school, he had 8 units of rapid at breakfast and 7 units of levemir too which is what he has every morn but never had the feeling go in his hand before

I was a diabetic child and when my bgs went high (and dropped sudenlyish) I used to either lose feeling in my feet or hand/hands and I would also sometimes get cramps in them - happened a lot over the childhood years but stopped after about 14-15 years old. The bad temper was pretty normal too. If he had crumpets did he have some protein too? It was years and years ago but I had quite a lot of ups at first and what helped when I was a child was what the dietician told my Mum (I was to young lol but Mum made sure to repeat it a lot as I got a bit older) - to never, ever have a carb without a protein. This really helped my bgs and I don't know why really. Anyway, 34 odd years later and I have all my fingers and toes and no damage there;)
