Hi i hope some one can help me with this ... today i had a fbg of 7.00 ...to early for breakkie so went back to bed for a couple of hours, brekkie consisted of lidi roll with bacon and egg ,pre brekkie was 10.6 2 hours after was 7.2 ...didn`t have lunch ...pre dinner was 12.0 ...small piece of gammon with poached egg ..2 hour post 6.2 ..this has been going on for a few days now and when my bgs go up i get my head aches i realy need some help with this

well I think you are suffering from what is known as Dawn Phenomenon. There are many threads on the subject so suggest you do a quick search. The answer is do not skip meals. If you aren't hungry just eat a small amount. You can't do anything immediately over night unless you want to be like a baby on 4 hourly feeds but during the day you can.

So i can get a liver dump at any point during the day ?

yep, a bit of a nasty shock hey, it is all such a complex system trying to pretend it is simple. I get them often especially when exercising but then my muscles are alive and soak it all up immediately

Hi this has been happening to me for the past few days,I don't understand the liver dump thing....I havnt missed meals, had a few without carbs but have eaten.

Type 2 on lantus and apidra.....

Your liver will provide you with glucose when you blood levels are getting low or more precisely when your insulin levels drop. So over time you use up the insulin and so your liver gives you glucose. However, because of the insulin resistance your pancreas doesnt react so you liver gives you more glucose. Eventually your liver will react and over produce insulin as your cells are ignoring it due to your resistance. This gives you high BG levels from a state when you were low.

Thank you,I was only diagnosed in March so trying to learn as much as I can. Have read your charts....very impressed with how you have achieved you fantastic weight loss....I have very limited mobility, but am cutting carbs as much as possible, which is why I couldn't understand the low reads after eating, but thanks again for explanation. It's a lot to learn....

Ok so i`m still trying to get my head round all this my fbg was 7.4 this morn i had a cup of coffee ..and pre brekkie was 15 .3 so why is it still dumping glucose ?

About half an hour between coffee and pre brekkie check

OK well the caffeine and/or milk may have been part of the problem. I suggest you test out a coffee later in the day, at least 3 hours after a meal. Test before, half an hour after and an hour after. This may give you a clue. If it is spiking you, you will need to try again without milk or with cream. If it still spikes, you may need to change to decaffeinated.

Hi tried the test with the coffee with milk and over a 3 hour period my bgs went down and would you believe no liver dump this morning :D:D:D

I have noticed the last few nights iv`e had to get up for a toilet break is that any thing to do with the liver dump ?

What were your blood glucose levels when you went to bed and how much did you drink in the evening. If you want to be sure then test when you get up for a wee
