hey guys would just like a bit of advice

for the last month or two now i have constantly been setting alarms in the night because no matter what i go to bed on ( 10mmol, 15mmol etc) my sugars will drop in the night and cause hypo.? i have tried adjusting my long acting insulin but i also have a big big issue where during the day my blood sugars will rise on there own? sometimes i can be on 9mmol for example and after an hour or two they will be 11 or 12 and just keep going. i now find myself injecting frequently in the day even without eating just so they don’t go really high?? i can’t seem to figure out what’s going on?? i am already on 19 units of long acting insulin

Some possibilities
1) injection sites - check you aren't over using them and if necessary use some new ones (eg further up your stomach)
2) getting your basal right is necessary before you can mess with bolus - I suspect that you need to reduce it (that was what my diabetic specialist told me to do when I was in a similar position to you and much to my surprise it worked). Do you know how to test for your basal rate?
3) your clinic may suggest you change the time of day you have your basal (ie swap morning/night).
In any case, best to phone your clinic for advice, my money would be on option 2. Good luck.

Some great suggestions from @EllieM and a few more (I make no comment on their greatness) from me
- are you able to split your basal dose so that you have more during the day and less during the night?
- what time of the dat do you inject your basal and can you move it? Lantus, for example has a peak after a few hours which may correspond to your night time hypo time.
- Before I changed to a pump, I used to have a similar experience of needing more basal during the day than the night. I overcame this by dosing my basal for the day and going to bed slightly high (my target was 7.5) so I had scope to drop
- Is a pump an option for you? The brilliant thing about a pump is that you can adjust your basal dose for every hour of the day.

Im type 2 .Im on Metformin 500mg 4x aday and Glicazide 80mg 2xday.....My readings are always 10.0/11.0/12.0/ before breakfast...But come afternoon these have dropped to 5.0/6.0/7.0 ..Strange ????..Can anyone help why this is the case ???
Are mmol readings the same in plain 5.5 readings ???....

This is likely to be due to Dawn Phenomenon.
There are many threads on this topic as it is very common.
Just search for "Dawn Phenomenon" and you should find some suggestions for reducing it.

hello, thank you for replying! and no what is a basal test?

hello no what is a basal test?? x

Mine have gone up from 8.5 to 12.4, overdid the Nova rapid, how foolish, effects of Butrans on my brain. Butrans is an opiate patch used for pain, and without notice sometimes the brain works backwards. When I told my assistant hw much she questioned it, and me being pestered by my dog at the same time I confirmed what I had said. These occasions can happen although not often, nevertheless, I have to learn to stop all proceedings when being interrupted. Now I feel a little foolish.
