Hi there just a quick question, when I got up I did my bs and they were 8.3 I went out for a walk with the dogs and I retook them before eating my breakfast and they shot up to 11.3. I think that is quite a drastic jump and I've not been in the 11's for the last two weeks. I've just had breakfast 2 slices of low carb bread 0.7g carb per slice with almond butter. I do realise that blood sugars are higher when you wake.
Anyway is it normal for it to go so high without eating?

Likely Dawn Phenomenon. You were active before eating, so your liver very "helpfully" dumped glucose to give you energy. Look at it this way: what's in your blood is no longer stored in your liver, so good riddance.

Yes very common. I swim before breakfast and need insulin when I get up to accommodate DP Foot on Floor and the exercise. If I didn’t levels would be very high when I got out of the water. It all just shows it is not just food that our bodies react to.
