Went to see the nurse for my diabetes review and HbA1c result today and my level was 45. I was happy with that but the nurse said that NHS guidelines for T2's have changed and now the HbA1c levels and what to aim for are based on age and for older people they should aim for an HbA1c level of no lower than 50. She has taken me off the Metformin...I was only taking 500g SR once a day anyway... and wants me to have another HbA1c blood test in 3 months to see if that has made any difference...she did not tell me to eat starchy carbs to bring it up though and she has never told me to eat low fat
