Diet drinks - the artificial sweeteners taste vile.
Having to forswear foods I have loved all my life.
Trying to find low carb meals when eating out.
I have recently seen posts where people are quoting insulin levels in their blood test results.

When I was first diagnosed nobody tested for this because the treatment for low insulin production and normal/high production with insulin resistance was exactly the same.

Have things changed or are these tests in other countries or from private patients?

I would like to know how my pancreas is performing because I would then know if I had significant insulin resistance.

I specifically asked for my insulin levels to be tested because I was asked to do so as part of a clinical trial being carried out by professor Tim Noakes . t2 diabetes is often characterised by having too much circulating insulin Which is why people like dr jason fong are so keen to get rid of it through fasting instead of trying to bring blood glucose down through more insulin . The truly normal level of fasting insulin is around 4-6 though average levels in western society are now upto around 25 because of the high sugar content in the average western diet .
