Which bits?

The first column shows the standard range, where you should be.
The results in bold have been highlighted as outside the normal range. (The H means high)

ALT is a marker of whether you have a fatty liver

Your triglycerides are high. These are the "baddies" in your cholesterol breakdown
Your HDL is low (these are the good cholesterol)
Your LDL is high (these are the so called bad cholesterol)
Your cholesterol/HDL ratio should be under 4

Your total Cholesterol looks fine but that is irrelevant because:- your triglycerides are very high at 2.6 you want this number closer to 1. your HDL is a little low at 0.9 you would want this to be closer to 1.5 and above. LDL looks good to me if and when you improve the other numbers. Hba1c is typical of a new type 2 diagnosis although very high it will quickly come down when/ if you adopt a lower carb diet. Also all the numbers I just mentioned will rapidly improve by adopting said LCHF diet. Others on here may offer different diet options but I had similar numbers to yours and all mine improved by the changes a LCHF diet brings. good luck you are in the right place on this website to get some really good help as most have been right where you are now.

Bluetit1802 thanks but have a review coming up on Feb so want to be sure about things

The HbA1c is the main one to think about right now and as someone has already said a low carb diet will help that immensely. I hope you have a meter so you can test your blood glucose levels because it's possible (but not definite) that you may not need the Gliclazide when your diet has improved.

Good luck, you are asking the right questions.

I hope I don't need it mate will speak to my GP at my review and ask him to take me of it cause I have heard horror stories about it
Thanks zand

I
I can attest to that - low carbing my HbA1C has gone from 102 to 50 in 4 months. I'm hoping to be able to come off the Gliclizade myself when I have my next review (and hopefully a further improved HbA1C).

You probably do need it at the moment with your high blood sugars, but get those down and your doctor may reconsider. The only way to get them down is to limit your carb consumption.

What are you typically eating at the moment?

Greens, eggs, low fat foods trying hard to cut out pasta rice n things plus lots of fruit clems orange banana apples things like that mate

I suggest the fruit is causing you major problems. It is full of sugar, ESPECIALLY the ones you are eating. It may be natural sugar, but it is sugar nonetheless and will raise blood glucose levels. Tropical fruits are by the worst (oranges, clems, etc) and bananas are by far the worst. They turn to glucose as soon as they hit your tongue. A small apple isn't too bad if eaten as part of a meal, not as a snack. Berries are the best (strawberries, raspberries) and better still if eaten with a full fat plain unsweetened yogurt or double cream.

No need to eat low fat, and if you have any low fat products in your kitchen have a look at the nutrition label under total carbohydrate. It is best to avoid them and eat the real thing. Dietary fat helps to smooth out the spikes that sugar and carbs cause.

Nothing wrong with greens and eggs though!
