You need to get attention from a specialist if you have very high LDL (which is normally self generated)Just had a raft of blood tests back. My cholesterol is 9mml!! Above 5 is cause for concern so what does that make 9. I have been eating low carb, high fat since June so presumably that’s why.
With the pancreatitis, high cholesterol and RH I’ve no idea what I should be eating anymore.
Can anyone recommend an excellent nutritionalist or dietician I can’t wait for the NHS to catch up with how fast this is all progressing.
Thanks
I have the same issue; my cholesterol has gone very high from being very good over winter. I am seeing my GP today to ask for a vitamin d test. Whatever my GP says, I will start taking a high dose vitamin d3 supplement but would like a blood test first if I can, so as to prove what is going on.
My exercise has also reduced over winter that may be another factor.
When I had an untreated underactive thyroid my cholesterol also went very high, so get your GP to test for an underactive thyroid, T3, T4, as well as TSH, needs checking.
A few very fit and lean people on low carb get high cholesterol for no known reasons, it seems to do them so hard. As I am not fit or lean, clearly I am not a lean hyporesponder (http://cholesterolcode.com/hyper-responder-faq/)
There have been recent studies that show that cholesterol is not governed by what you eat. I have tagged @Bluetit1802 to give you a link.
As for RH ers, it has to be low carb, to stop the triggers. But you do need to find your balance.
I do not know about pancreatitis. But I would assume that a very low carb diet would aid treatment and your health.
Do speak to your endocrinologist about your issues.
Best wishes
I was watching a video just the other day and the doc said that TSH was like TC, a totally useless number taken on its own so we must start asking about the breakdowns more. No idea if it is accurate or not.
Personally, my lipids improved once I cut out carbs and went back to real fats from animals, avoiding processed plant oils as much as possible. My LDL has increased slightly but as my trigs are low I gather the LDL will have mostly the big fluffy particles that do no damage. My HDL jumped up significantly.
