Are blueberries good for type 2's ?
I saw some fresh blueberries in the supermarket but the carbs were around 83g per 100g.
Frozen blueberries were 6g per 100g
Perhaps it said 8.3g??
Bit strange that....
I have some frozen blueberries in the freezer for emergencies only. I find they spike me far more than strawberries or blackberries. They do have more carbs than the other berries. You need to test them, but be careful how many you have.
Love blueberries. In the war the pilots reported better night vision on the days they had blueberries.
Hence they're supposed to be good for microvascular function.
I find like @Bluetit1802 says, that they spike my BG more than strawberries. So you have to test to find out the right portion size. I find it's best to go for frozen berries and just take as many out as you need, then zap them in the microwave or leave them to thaw.
Mine are frozen, but I did wonder if that is the reason they spike me, because when they thaw they have gone a bit mushy, and maybe this alters the fructose somehow. I know I find hard strawberries much better than soft ones for not spiking, and I do know ripe fruits are worse than under ripe ones.
