blurred line in vision

Hi

I am feeling rather scared i have noticed a blurry patches in my right eye (good eye) last few days. Any suggestions. Is this my retinopathy taking away my sight. Also seeing a dotted jaggy line after blinking.

Cant calm down. Please help x

Could be a number of reasons, some relatively harmless and temporary, get yourself checked out is my advice. I scared myself half to death about this a few years ago and it turned out to be nothing much to worry about after I had it checked at the local eye hospital

What was the problem? Iv recently been ontop of my sugars after been a bit lazy with the whole thing. No one in my life understands my worries they just tell me i need to stop moaning and get on with my life x

Manda, I was always told when my retinopathy was active to report any changes in my vision to the Ophthalmology clinic, if I were you I'd ring them first thing in the morning and ask them for advice on what you should do, if your eye get worst go to A & E, they will check your eye and bleep the on-call Ophthalmologist if necessary.

Hope it's nothing too serious and the eye clears up soon!

Its jus anytime u fone with a worry they tell you itl be weeks for an appointment. Could this be a temp thing related to sugars. Had this before in ny left eye for a few months and they couldnt find any fluids or bleeds to do any treatment. X

Go along to your gp's in the morning and they will examine your eye, if they think it's a matter of urgency they will ring the Ophthalmology Dept and ask them to see you asap, as I said if your concerned go along to A & E.

Have you been referred to an optician for annual screening?
I had a similar type of thing, I rang my optician in the morning, arranged an appointment the same afternoon, get a letter for my gp to refer me, called at the gp on the way home with it, they rang the local hospital ophthalmology dept the next morning, and had me in the hospital the next day.
Nothing to do with diabetes, just age related, a few more appointments to monitor it, then discharged.

I started getting blurred lines in my vision permanently which was the retinopathy advancing, also the dotted squiggly line thing you mentioned I had when sugars came down low but those ones were only temporary. Definately worth going to see your opthalmologist, even if it takes a few weeks for an appointment.

Hi,

I noticed a blurry line with my left eye, I was referred to the hospital and was diagnosed with Macula Oedema, this has been going on for 12 months, and the consultant is willing to wait before any treatment. Hope all goes well for you xx

hi,

opticians refered me to the hospital as she felt my eyes had got worse she said there was more white spots at the back but everytime i go to the hospital they would say no change. how come all of a sudden ihave broken vision and unable to see details and faces properly. do any of you guys experience this. im terrified i have panic attacks everyday and basicly just cannot cope with this.

is there a chance the blurring will clear and get better?

hi, they have noticed my eyes are worse as she said there was new spots at the back, hospital always told me there was no change. how can changes happen this quick? and will my sight get better hate the unknown and panic when i cant see faces clearly. trying my best to control my sugars altho it is very hard as you all know. jus want to close my eyes and wake up better as you all wish. sorry to moan as you are all going through your problems x

hi manda pops,
i'm going through a terrible time of it with this at the moment too, my retinopathy advanced from the background stage straight to proliferative (end stage) in just 3 months after intensively getting my blood sugar under control. It has been a terrifying experience seeing my previously perfect vision rapidly deteriorate. I'm currently getting laser treatment for it at the eye hospital, but the consultant is quite worried at how fast it is progressing.
I could say try not to worry too much but that won't help I know. Best way to deal is try to accept that you are doing what you can, and whatever happens the chances are you will still be able to see most things and manage in your daily life. Try your best to keep blood pressure under control too as this is very important to limit progression from what I've read.
