Type 2 Blurred vision

I have been on Gliclacide for two weeks combined with a low carb diet. My blood sugar has reduced to a healthy level, but within two days of taking the medication my sight has become blurred for reading anything close up. This is very frustrating, especially at work. Does anyone know how long this is likely to last?

Not very long. It's not a side effect of the meds, but as a result of your lowering blood glucose. As your body gets used to and adapts to the new levels, it will all settle down. Don't get your eyes checked or spectacles changed, as it will go back to normal very soon.

Some people invest in some over the counter reading glasses to assist in the short term and you can get them on the high street from about 99p.

Well done on your improvement.

Hi there @Richard4218
welcome to the forum :)
as @BooJewels has said this is a direct result of your bloods lowering quickly - just wanted to add that it can last for a few weeks so don't panic , and well done on getting your BG's sorted :)

Thanks for the replies. Good to know it recovers in time. Sticking my head two inches from my computer screen at working is getting embarrassing! Will check out temporary reading glasses.

Hi. I'm having exactly the same issue. Mine's been like this for about 5-6 weeks now. I think my eyes might be improving slightly but yes it's very disconserting! I've been told it's temporary but am getting a bit 'over it!" . Good luck!
